Social Media Helping Victims of Earthquake in Haiti Many people have been interested in the recent disaster in Haiti. Most are interested in helping victims of the earthquake that wracked Haiti Tuesday and are being encouraged to text and tweet their donations and publicize their support using the new media and social networking. According to the American Red Cross they have received almost $3 million for earthquake relief in Haiti through Twitter alone. People can help by texting "Haiti" to 90999 and making a $10 donation. The Red Cross also said it is pledging $10 million in aid. Social networking sites have provided a platform for donors to provide to charities assisting in the Haiti disaster relief. |
